If there was something that blew my mind after a long time, then it was THIS! The movie is nothing like it seems. You have to be, as open minded as possible to watch this... right through to the end, errrrr... if you survive watching all the gore in it that is :-)
It's based on a social science experiment wherein a pair of individuals are stationed at different levels daily for innumerable number of days with 1 platform of food passing through right in the centre of these levels. The best part about the film is that you can take away whatever message from its Climax as you want. I spoke to some who watched it and we all had our own explanation to the end.
Here's mine.
The world is run by officials, who we call the administration. Though they do their job perfectly well, which is make lovely meals and serve a full table of sumptuous meal; the food when received by people at different levels still have their complaints. The greed, the angst, the sheer evilness when you are a person in power one day and not the next, is what makes them take drastic steps inorder to survive another day at another level.
At the end of it, it's all about survival. Solidarity. If we think for each other, we can all survive whether the administration has something good or bad planned for the people. The world cannot be perfect only with the vision of the people who plans to run it, it also depends on whether the people in the society share the same vision as well.
The little girl that is unharmed and freed at the end is a message sent back to the administration; showing that even in a place like this, as humans we can rise above ourselves and let humanity survive. All you need is your heart, mind and soul.
If you have the stomach to see the unseen and you are open to feel a bit lost and heavy in your heart and soul for a couple of days, then this is a great film to watch.
